Fingers crossed for Copenhagen
Well, it’s started. History could well be in the making – or so we hope. Today starts the Copenhagen Conference on Climate Change and so far, most of the world’s biggest emitters have come to the table with significant plans to cut emissions.
And to really set the scene, 56 newspapers around the world (not including Australia by the way) published an unprecedented shared editorial, many on the front page, www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/dec/06/copenhagen-editorial.
Like many others around the world, I will be keeping any eye on what happens, which will hopefully be something positive. I’m not expecting a real outcome at this stage, but hope that some real, positive steps will be achieved during the next 11 days.
I won’t make much further comment, because everyone else will be, and will be probably far more informed and eloquent than I. But as one comment on the above blog said, as the seasonal music blares through the shopping mall, maybe we should think a little more about Climate Change, and less about stuff we don’t really need.

Thanks, I didn’t actually know about this editorial.
