Walkies
Need to clear your head?
It’s impossible to have good ideas when you’re surrounded by chaos. Ideas need time to germinate, grow. Ever heard the term, “I need to sleep on it” or “putting it on the back burner” . That’s old wisdom that has now been proven by brain science.
Why not get some exercise for your body and some down-time for your brain at the same time? Ideally, you should choose an inspiring place to walk – a forest, the beach, a park, around a lake. If they’re not readily at hand, do the best you can. Go alone. Walking with friends is fun, and great if you just want to exercise, but not so good if you’re wanting to get the brain going.
“I’m too busy” is not an excuse. If you can’t get away before or after work (and I know, with a munchkin to get ready in the morning, and fed at night, I find it impossible) make sure you head out at lunchtime. You’re not doing your employee (or yourself if you are self-employed) any favours by being stuck in stale thought habits, having a sandwich at your desk.
Go on, off you go!
