The “Just Do It” guide to decisions

Whether you are caught up in “paralysis by analysis” or simply procrastinating, sometimes the best way to overcome making a decision or moving forward is to get something done.

It may not be perfect, or fit in with your overarching strategic plans, but the simple of act of acting will help you regain confidence and may even help you find the direction you seek.

For example, I was recently caught out by my lack of planning and direction. Put simply, I had been procrastinating preparing a launch plan for my new brand, Leaf, spending the time instead on further product development (which, for me, is much more fun!) When an opportunity arose that was too good to refuse (the chance to have some products as prize giveaways and promote the business at a fundraiser attended by over 200 people), I was completely unprepared.

Where was the gorgeous promotional brochure, the completed website, the Facebook fan page, the online store, the e-newsletter? With only a few days to get everything together, some things had to give. Some compromises had to be made.

However, in the process, I have made some great discoveries, learnt a couple of lessons that I can pass onto others and even received a few orders. Plus, it got my butt into gear to for working on the promotional and distribution plans I had been avoiding.

Need to make a decision? Just do it!
