As a small business, Spicycat Creative has developed a flexible, open structure that allows us to work with the people we need, as we need. Through our networks with graphic designers, e-marketing services, educators, historians, writers and software developers, Spicycat draws on a vast pool of knowledge across a number of disciplines to develop our products and services.
Husband and wife team, Cath and Russell Connell form the core of the business.
Spicycat Creative also works in alliance with Sue Francis from sjfdesign to offer brand strategy and marketing communications solutions to small business.
Cath Connell – Creative Director
Cath describes herself as a “crazy mix of creativity, practicality, determination and passion”.
Originally starting out as a graphic designer, Cath has had considerable experience in both small and large organisations in design, print production, account management, sales, brand management and marketing communications. She has also completed an MBA.
Her interests are varied, although she has particular passions for environmental issues, travel, photography, innovation and personal development. She is also a self-confessed “paperphile”.
Russell Connell – IT Director
Russell is a qualified computer scientist and software engineer with extensive knowledge of software development across a number of platforms, languages, paradigms and social media trends, as well as considerable experience in project management.
As a “cool geek” he always has a computer on hand and spends much of his free time “fiddling”, turning his many interests into user-friendly, digital solutions. winequaffer.com is just one example.
Sue Francis (SJF Design) - Brand Strategist & Visual Designer
Sue has over 15 years experience in design, studio management and production.
Since sjfdesign was founded in 2002, Sue has worked with clients to develop fresh, creative solutions across a range of disciplines, from advertising to direct marketing, through to packaging, web design and corporate communications.
Throughout her diverse career, Sue has worked with some major brands including Qantas, Spears Games, Ernst and Young, Mirvac, Westfield, Chemmart, Kyneton Springs, Tenix, RAIA, Melbourne Water, Pitcher Partners, Amcor, Officeworks, Ladelle, ANZ and KMart.
By working with some of this country’s biggest brands, Sue has gained incredible insight into building a strong, recognisable brand, and it is this knowledge and experience that she now brings to small business.
